Broken Records and Medals
Rylan Wiens had a phenomenal meet last weekend in Saskatoon at the Diving Plongeon Canada’s Winter Senior National Championships, winning medals, breaking records and earning an important team spot. Rylan’s first event was the 10m Synchro with his new partner Bryden Hattie of Victoria. In their first competition together, Rylan and Bryden won the Gold medal and set a new National record for Men’s 10m Synchro. Rylan went on to win a bronze medal on Individual 10m Platform, breaking the current Saskatchewan record by 50 points. It was quite a comeback story after he finished 11th in Preliminaries and came back to finish his last – and most difficult – dive with 9.5s and 10s. An exciting moment for the hometown crowd. Rylan’s performance earned him a spot on the Commonwealth Games Team which will be heading to Australia in April. Congratulations Rylan and Coach Mary Carroll!
